The Association of the most beautiful villages in Italy
The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy Association was founded in 2002 within the ANCI Tourism Council with the aim of enhancing and promoting the great heritage of history, art, culture and landscapes present in small Italian towns.
It includes over 350 selected and certified villages (with an ISO9001 certified process) which are the expression of the beauty and charm of which Italy is a leader in the world.
MU.DI.: The Virtual Museum of the Villages
A precious heritage, of inestimable value, preserved in the thousand museums, churches, palaces and archaeological sites of our Villages that, thanks to the MU.DI. project of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, becomes digital.
An inseparable bond between cultural heritage and territory, to discover the works, fruit of human ingenuity and creativity; it is finally possible to explore the masterpieces in a single web platform, completely immersive, full of details and information.
What is “BORGO”.
The literal translation of Borgo in English would be “Village”. But the term Village does not fully explain what a “Borgo” is. A “Borgo” is a fascinating small Italian town, generally fortified and dating back to the period from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
