Lo spirito del luogo

Just 18 kilometers from Foligno lies Rasiglia, a place seemingly untouched by time, nestled in a breathtaking landscape of rolling hills, mountains, and crystal-clear springs.

At the heart of Rasiglia is the Capovena spring, which feeds a complex network of waterways that flows through the entire village, creating an enchanting and almost magical atmosphere. These waters converge in a basin known as La Peschiera, a silent witness to centuries of water-powered activities such as grain milling and wool processing.

The importance of textile production in this small village is underscored by the presence of an industrial-archaeological textile park. Traces of this proud heritage can be seen in the remains of old mills and factories – living testimonies to the artisanal and industrial mastery that defined Rasiglia until the post-war period.

Embedded in the urban fabric are remnants of the Trinci family’s ancient rule – lords of nearby Foligno – most notably the imposing ruins of the castle. Within the village itself stands the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, built in 1743, and just a short distance away, the richly frescoed Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie, dating back to 1450.

The rocciata, an ancient and humble sweet, consists of a thin, hand-stretched pastry filled with dried fruit, cocoa, amaretti, wild apples, and lemon zest.  Among the village’s “products,” visitors can also enjoy fresh spring water free, accessible to all, eco-friendly, with zero emissions and zero plastic waste.

Rasiglia in Bloom (first weekend of June)
We celebrate the rebirth after winter through the colors of the blooming season, the sacredness of Corpus Christi, and cultural meetings and workshops connected to the history of the village.

Risorgive Letterarie – Umbria Green Festival (late August to early September)
The first zero-impact literary festival in Umbria, combining themes of environmental sustainability with the fight against inequality and gender parity.

Concerts, book presentations, performances, and workshops for children are held throughout the year.

Rasiglia is nestled in a stunning natural setting, surrounded by mountains, forests, and a peaceful silence that restores the soul. This makes it an ideal starting point for outdoor enthusiasts: from scenic hiking trails to quiet country roads perfect for running or cycling, every route offers a full immersion into the greenery and tranquility of the most authentic Umbria.
