The name almost certainly derives from Trapezakion (table), a town on a plateau, distorted by popular etymology into Trebisacce. The name derives from the upper part of the town, indicating the Trapeza or short plateau on which the ancient settlement is located.
Monte Mostarico: In a dominant position with respect to the Borgo di Trebisacce, the hill looks out over the Piana di Sibari, up to the Gulf of Corigliano and towards the hinterland towards the Pollino and up to the Sila mountains.
Giardini di Trebisacce: they offer a variety of itineraries that invite visitors to discover the beauty of the area on foot or by bicycle.
Historic Center: it is small and charming, easy to get lost walking through the narrow streets full of history.
Lungomare: it offers the beauty of its Blue Flag beach for the eleventh consecutive year, awarded for the cleanliness of the beach, the water and for the services suitable for all bathing needs.
Saracen Bed: a suggestive and challenging route that through the ancient paths, covered with typical Mediterranean scrub, connects Trebisacce with the inland towns (Plataci, Albidona, Alessandria del Carretto) and the towns of nearby Lucania. You will come across ruins of factories (mills, water sawmill, a small hydroelectric power station).
Spaghetti alla Trebisaccese: a typical dish of Trebisacce cuisine, particularly appreciated in coastal areas such as Trebisacce, where blue fish, anchovies in this case, is the main ingredient. A simple but very tasty recipe, it takes advantage of the freshness of the anchovies and the richness of the Calabrian gastronomic tradition.
Anchovies in salt: anchovies in salt are a preserve that is thousands of years old, they were already in use by the ancient Romans. Trebisacce has maintained this ancient tradition and there are those who have gone further by also producing Garum, a rare and very particular product, used by the ancient Romans. Orange.
Late Blonde Orange: it is a typical variety of the area, characterized by a sweet and aromatic flavor. This citrus fruit is appreciated for its quality and for its late ripening, which enhances its freshness.
Nudicella: The Calabrian sardella (also called rosamarina or nudicella, as it is called in Trebisacce) is a typical Calabrian product, from the Upper Ionian and Lower Ionian Cosentino, based on very small and/or medium-sized whitebait and ground sweet or spicy red chili pepper.
Feast of San Rocco: one of the most important moments for the community, attracts faithful and tourists from many parts of Calabria and neighboring regions. The Saint is carried in procession from the Mother Church and then placed on a traditional boat, continuing the traditional procession at sea, this one in force since the early 1900s.
End of month market: one of the most important and ancient markets in Calabria, it takes place on the last Sunday of every month.
Notte Bianca: one of the most anticipated events of the Summer. From late afternoon, the main street comes alive with food and wine stands, entertainment for children, street artists and from 9:00 pm music concerts everywhere. Once night has fallen, the Lungomare will transform into an enchanting setting for music and the Trebisaccese nightlife until the lights of dawn.
San Giuseppe: The Festival still retains its bucolic charm, with its rustic atmosphere that recalls the simplicity of country life, where the sacred and the profane intertwine in a tradition that smacks of the past and the land
